Merivale Road Transit Priority Improvements

Merivale Road Transit Priority Improvements

The Merivale Road (Baseline Rd to Carling Ave) Transit Priority is being implemented this summer.  As part of this project, some bus stops along Merivale will be slightly relocated in order to increase the efficiency of OC Transpo’s bus schedules.  During peak hours, the outer right lanes on Merivale Road, northbound and southbound, will be transit priority.  Cyclists will also be permitted to use this lane during those hours for additional safety on the roads.

The map below illustrates the bus stops that will either move slightly, stay the same or be removed.

This project was publicly consulted on two occasions in March 2017 and September 2017, plus on a number of updates with the Central Park and Carlington Community Associations. It was also included on my community updates at both the Carlington Community Association (May 2019) and the Central Park Community Association AGM (November 2018).  This project is being implemented along with some key intersection beautification improvements along the Merivale corridor such as the Merivale / Kirkwood intersection, and further north near Carling Avenue.

OC Tranpso is also currently seeking feedback on these changes on their website at: http://www.octranspo.com/en/plan-your-trip/service-changes/better-bus-stops-project-merivale-rd
