Update: Dynes Road and Prince of Wales Drive water, sewer, and road renewal project

Update: Dynes Road and Prince of Wales Drive water, sewer, and road renewal project

I wanted to share the following update with respect to the Dynes Road and Prince of Wales Drive water, sewer, and road renewal project.

Work on this project is on schedule and will continue until the summer of 2019.

The streets included as part of this project are:

  • Baseline Road – Prince of Wales Drive to 80 meters west of Prince of Wales Drive – Watermain extension
  • Dynes Road / Fisher Avenue intersection
  • Dynes Road – Fisher Avenue to Prince of Wales Drive
  • Dynes Road / Prince of Wales Drive intersection
  • Prince of Wales Drive – Dynes Road to Forest Hill Avenue

The information below is a status update on the planned construction work:

Baseline Road

All work on Baseline Road is complete.

Dynes Road / Fisher Avenue intersection

All underground work at the Dynes Road / Fisher Avenue intersection is complete.   Base course of asphalt and all curbs are complete.  Most of the sidewalks will be installed at the intersection by late November 2017.   Traffic signal work is on-going and once completed, will allow for the re-opening of Deer Park Road between Fisher Avenue and Forest Park (re-opening is scheduled for November 17, 2017). Final asphalt paving, installation of remaining concrete sidewalk panels at the 4 corners, and final landscaping work is expected to occur in 2018.

Dynes Road – Fisher Avenue to Morley

The majority of work in 2017 has occurred on Dynes Road (between Fisher Avenue and Morley Boulevard).   All underground work is complete.  Base course asphalt including all curbs and most of the sidewalks will be installed on Dynes from Fisher to Morley by early December 2017.  Dynes will be reopened to two-way traffic in December 2017.  Final asphalt paving, installation of remaining sidewalks (north side), and final landscaping on Dynes Road (between Fisher Avenue and Morley Boulevard) is expected to occur in 2018.

Prince of Wales Drive – Dynes Road to Forest Hill Avenue (includes the small section on Dynes from Morley to Prince of Wales, and POW/Dynes intersection)

Lane shifting and sewer construction work on Prince of Wales Drive is expected to start this month.  The lane shifts will not impact traffic.

Continuing in 2018, road, water, and sewer work will occur along Prince of Wales Drive (between Dynes Road and Forest Hill Avenue) and on Dynes Road (between Prince of Wales Drive and Morley Boulevard), including the reconstruction of the POW/Dynes intersection.  Final asphalt paving and final landscaping within those limits will be completed in the spring / summer of 2019.

Utilities

Utility and streetlight relocation work was completed this year on Dynes and Prince of Wales Drive along with work to install temporary traffic signals at the Dynes Road / Fisher and Dynes / Prince of Wales Drive intersections.
