05 Dec Councillor Brockington Hosts Meet and Greet with Brigil – New Owners of the Riverside Mall

This morning, I hosted an informal Meet and Greet between Brigil, the new owners of the Riverside Mall, located at 729-753 Ridgewood Avenue, and local community leaders from the Riverside Park Community Association and two abutting condo corporations.
With the closure of the beloved Country Grocer one year ago, the long term viability of the Mall has been the talk of the neighbourhood. When the previous owners did not accept multiple requests to sit down to discuss the Mall’s future, it became clear the For Sale sign would soon be before us and that is exactly what happened. In early November 2019, the ownership of the Mall exchanged hands to Brigil. Located in Gatineau, Brigil is a local development and construction company.
The Riverside Park community welcomes Brigil and look forward to working with them on a smart, modern, mixed-use development for the site. Many good ideas were shared with Brigil at the meeting, especially the need for commercial amenities and community services.
In the late winter, 2020, Brigil will be prepared to share their preliminary vision for the site with the Riverside Park community and I will host the first of a number of Open House and consultation meetings.
