DESCRIPTION:Engagement series launched for the design of the Ottawa Public Library and Library and Archives Canada joint facility \n  \nOttawa – The year-long engagement process for the design of the new Ottawa Public Library and Library and Archives Canada joint facility will kick off tomorrow\, February 28\, with the first public workshop taking place at Library and Archives Canada. \nThe evening will be kicked off with remarks from Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson; the Honourable Catherine McKenna\, Minister of Environment and Climate Change representing the Honourable Pablo Rodriguez\, Minister of Canadian Heritage; Ottawa Public Library Board Chair\, Tim Tierney; and Samantha Tenasco from Kitigan Zibi. \nOne hundred and eighty people registered for this sold out workshop to hear Don Schmitt of Diamond Schmitt Architects\, the firm retained in partnership with Ottawa’s KWC Architects to design the new facility\, explain why this is one of the most exciting sites he has ever worked with. Participants will then be asked to provide feedback on preliminary concepts and to share ideas and explore hands-on how the new joint facility could take shape on the site. \nThe Inspire555 Series will include include design workshops\, pop-up events\, expert lectures\, online activities and engagement (local and national)\, and knowledge sharing with Indigenous communities on a variety of design topics\, including “Iconic Features and Sustainability”\, “Creating a Landmark Destination”\, and “Finishing Touches.” A final design will be revealed at the end of 2019. \nDate:   Thursday\, February 28\, 2019\nTime:   Registration begins at 6 pm. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday April 13\, I will host my annual Earth Day event at the Hunt Club-Riverside Park Community Centre\, 3320 Paul Anka Drive.  This will be an all-day event featuring an electronics waste collection depot from 10am to 4pm courtesy of Junk that Funk. They will be set up in the parking lot to receive your electronic waste. \nFrom 10am to noon there will be an Earth Day Exhibition inside the community centre with numerous community partners participating and featuring a TREE GIVE AWAY with Tree Ottawa\, the Seed Lending Library with Just Foods (Community Gardens)\, games and information with Ottawa South Eco Action Network\, information from the City of Ottawa on the Green Bin Program and Clean the Capital\, and much more!  Don’t forget to enter the draw to win a pair of ticket to travel to Montreal and back courtesy of Via Rail Canada.  The Ballot box will be on my table at the Exhibition and the draw will take place at noon. \nIn the afternoon\, join me for a park cleanup of McCarthy Park. Depending on the weather\, it may vary from a garbage pickup to a full park clean-up.  If the snow is gone\, bring your rakes! \n

DESCRIPTION:Library Tales and Tunes event has something for everyone! \nSaturday\, July 6\, 2019 \nOttawa Public Library will be holding its annual signature event\, Tales and Tunes: Family Fun Day at the Library\, on Saturday\, July 6\, from 12 noon to 5 pm at Ben Franklin Place and the Nepean Centrepointe branch.  \nTales & Tunes is a free\, family-oriented celebration of storytelling and literacies of many kinds\, presented by Ottawa Public Library (OPL)\, on Saturday\, July 6.
