25 Jun Cannabis Retail License Application in Carleton Heights
Last week, I was informed that a cannabis retail application was received by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission at the strip-mall on the southwest corner of the Prince of Wales and Meadowlands intersection, with the civic address 888 Meadowlands Drive. The preliminary City staff comments indicate that the City of Ottawa objects to the proposed location because it is within 150m of an active-use public park (Hog’s Back Rideau Canal Locks and Rideau Canoe Club) and is also across the street from the Boys and Girls Club.
The local Carleton Heights Area Residents Association (CHARA) passed a motion at their meeting last week also opposing the proposed locations. I have also written the AGCO to oppose the application.
Residents are encouraged to provide their feedback directly to the AGCO by Friday, July 4 at https://www.iagco.agco.ca/prod/pub/en/Default.aspx?PossePresentation=PublicNoticeSearch enter 888 Meadowlands in the premises address search tool.
