Ellwood Diamond Overnight Construction
As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Trillium Line South Extension project, work is proceeding on the Ellwood Diamond rail bridge, which will allow VIA Rail trains to safely and efficiently pass below the Trillium Line.
WHAT: Caisson drilling to form the sub-structure of the rail bridge.
WHEN: Work will take place each night between 10 pm and 6 am starting on August 4 and continuing until September 4.
WHY: Caisson construction is required for the completion of the rail structure.
WHERE: Work will take place at the site where the existing Trillium Line alignment between Mooney’s Bay and Walkley stations crosses the east-west VIA single track alignment.
DATES AND HOURS OF WORK
Construction activity will start on August 4 and will commence each night between the hours of 10 pm and 6 am until September 4.
ANTICIPATED IMPACTS
Noise will be intermittent and not expected to exceed 85 decibels at the location of work but reducing to approximately 56 decibels 30 metres from construction activity. Efforts will be made to divert light from residences. |
