Sections of Colonel By Drive and Queen Elizabeth Driveway temporarily closed this weekend
Canada’s Capital Region—Sections of Colonel By Drive and the Queen Elizabeth Driveway will be temporarily closed to motor vehicle traffic on Saturday, October 29 and Sunday, October 30, 2016. These closures are necessary to complete the installation of the Rideau Canal Skateway changing and washroom facilities.
Saturday, October 29
- 6 am to 12:30 pm: Colonel By Drive (northbound and southbound lanes) will be closed between Hawthorne Avenue (Pretoria Bridge) and Daly Avenue.
- 12 pm to 5 pm: Colonel By Drive (northbound and southbound lanes) will be closed between Hog’s Back Road and the Bronson Avenue Bridge. On-ramp and off-ramp access at the Bronson Bridge will remain open.
Sunday, October 30
- 6:30 am to 1 pm: Queen Elizabeth Driveway (northbound and southbound lanes) will be closed between the Bank Street Bridge and Fifth Avenue.
Pathway Detours
- Some sections of the Rideau Canal pathways may be closed for a short period during the installation. Users must comply with the flag persons’ directions, and proceed along designated detours.
The National Capital Commission urges motorists, cyclists and pedestrians to exercise caution and to respect working crews and equipment, and obey signage and flag persons at the site.
