28 Jan Paul Landry Park, Marble Park and Ernie Calcutt Park Ash Removals
The City’s Forestry Department has advised my office that, beginning next week, several hundred ash trees will be removed from Paul Landry Park, Marble Park and Ernie Calcutt Park due to the their decline in health from the Emerald Ash Borer. The Emerald Ash Borer is a green beetle infestation that is highly destructive to ash trees. Only the ash trees and a few dead elm trees have been marked for removal. The City will be replanting each of these sites in fall 2015 with a variety of native species. The removals will take over a 2-5 day period for each park. Attached is a notice that some residents in the community may have recently received.
