03 Jun Queen Elizabeth Driveway from Waverley Street to Laurier Avenue closed next week
Queen Elizabeth Driveway from Waverley Street to Laurier Avenue will be closed to all traffic at all times from June 6 to 10 inclusively. The ramps from the Driveway to Laurier Avenue and from Laurier Avenue to the Driveway will also be closed.
A signed detour via Catherine Street and Elgin Street will be in effect, and Variable Message Signs will be in place to notify the travelling public prior to the closure.
The Rideau Canal Western Pathway, which runs parallel to the Queen Elizabeth Driveway, is closed from Waverley Street to Somerset Street. Pedestrians and cyclists are detoured through the Driveway.
Two Ottawa on the Move projects are coordinating work in the area to minimize the time the Driveway needs to be closed:
- The Laurier westbound on-ramp that was dug up as part of a culvert construction project last winter needs to be repaved.
- A sewer pipe needs to be installed at Glimour Street traversing the Driveway, as part of the Gilmour Street integrated road reconstruction project.
