River Ward Community Update
Dear friends and neighbours of River Ward,
Happy June!
We are slowly coming to an end of the academic year for students in kindergarten through grade 12 and what a year it has been. To all educators, support staff, and administrators, thank you for your valiant efforts to keep a sense of balance and focus in what has been the most challenging school year in recent memory. To parents and guardians trying to balance work, home, and school life under one roof, thank you for your sustained focus and commitment as well. To students, I wish you a safe and enjoyable summer.
June is also Pride Month. Every year, during the month of June, the 2SLGBTQ+ community celebrates in a number of different ways. Various events are held across the globe. In Ottawa, Capital Pride is held in August and this year, the week of August 22-29 is marked for various events.
Father’s Day lands on Sunday, June 20. To all the Dads and special men who play a significant role in someone’s life, enjoy your day. Of all the responsibilities I have in my own life, being a father to two amazing daughters is the most rewarding thing I do and I am grateful every day for their love, energy, and time we spend together.
Next month, in July’s e-newsletter, I will provide an update of the infrastructure projects in the ward. Significant investments in River Ward’s infrastructure are being made in 2021.
Stay well and stay safe.
Sincerely,
Riley
