River Ward E-Newsletter, November 1, 2025 | Bulletin électronique du Quartier Rivière, 1 novembre 2025

Dear Friends and Neighbours!

On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month…we will remember them.  On November 11, Remembrance Day, please take some time to attend a local event or the National Remembrance Day ceremony downtown to remember the fallen who have served defending our country.  Never forget.

The e-newsletter contains a lot of information about upcoming events across the ward – it plans to be a busy month.  In October, I was pleased to welcome the Minister of Sport, the Hon Neil Lumsden to the Alexander Community Centre to receive an $8 million contribution to go towards our centre’s renovation and expansion.  I am also grateful for the decision of the Ottawa Public Library Board of Trustees to immediately commence their plans to build a new library in River Ward, in the old Hunt Club neighbourhood.  More details on both exciting announcements below, in the e-newsletter.

In November, we recognize Hindu Heritage and Lebanese Heritage Month, Veterans’ Week (November 5-11), Remembrance Day (November 11) and the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (November 25).

The final vote on Lansdowne 2.0 is expected on November 7.  The draft 2026 City Budget will be tabled on November 12, with a final vote on December 10.

The River Ward team is here to serve you – reach out any time.
