28 Dec Winter Weather Update – December 28, 2015
December 28th winter advisory from city staff:
A winter storm of approx. 30 cm +/- of snow is forecasted to start at 11 pm tonight and last about 24 hours with blowing snow (sustained 25 km/h winds with gust of 45 km/h) throughout the event. Temperatures are forecasted to be – 10C tonight with a high of -6C tomorrow afternoon.
Staff are On Call for an earlier start if required but regular night & day shifts commence tonight and tomorrow as the Christmas break is over. The focus through the night will be on plowing with salt application on Highway 174, Transitway and the Arterial/Major/Transit routes & collectors, will also be conducting echelon plowing throughout this event. Priority sidewalks units will be deployed and we anticipate an early morning start on plowing our gravel road network.
A further update will be provided between 6-7am tomorrow where we will outline the deployment on the plowing of residential streets and an update on the storm.
