Dear friends and neighbours of River Ward,
It is great to see green grass and buds starting to sprout on local trees. With spring flowers popping up in local garden beds, adding welcomed colour and vibrancy, the Tulip Festival will be in full bloom from May 12-22. The main location to see tulips will be at Ottawa Commissioners Park near Dow’s Lake.
On May 14, we will celebrate and appreciate our love for mothers, grandmothers, aunts and special women in our lives. Best wishes to everyone celebrating on this day and I hope to see you at my May 13 Mother’s Day High Tea event.
If I may draw your attention to one matter in particular in this e-newsletter, it is the recent launch of OC Transpo’s public survey. With ridership down one-third from pre-COVID levels, the financial situation is dire and unsustainable without a discussion on current demands for service, where people need to travel to today and the long-term financing of public transit. Whether you use public transit or not, please engage in this critical public discussion.
In the next two weeks, all households in River Ward will receive my Spring bulletin in the mail, filled with updates and upcoming public consultations and events.
Take good care,
Riley Brockington
