At the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month – we will remember them. As Remembrance Day approaches (November 11) please take time to reflect on the personal sacrifices made for us. We must and will remember them.
On October 24, Hunt Club resident Brkti Berhe senselessly and tragically lost her life in an act of femicide. She was killed in broad daylight in Paul Landry Park, accompanied by two of her children.
Many residents have expressed a variety of emotions and rightly so. The South East Ottawa Community Health Centre offers services to residents who may need support. They have an office in the Hunt Club Riverside Park Community Centre. You are also invited to contact my office in confidence if you require additional information on support services that are available. On October 28, I hosted a community vigil in memory of Brkti and will work with the family in the days that follow to ensure they have the support they need.…
