River Ward E-Newsletter, March 1, 2026 | Bulletin électronique du Quartier Rivière, 1 mars 2026

Dear Friends and Neighbours!

March is one of those months when anything can happen with the weather.  Enjoy the sunshine and let’s open the doors wide to spring – just a few weeks away.

At the end of this month, on March 30, I will be hosting a public session on the future of the Mooney’s Bay Hill (winter month use).  Attend and review the various options under consideration and share your feedback with myself and the City of Ottawa.  The event will be at the Riverside United Church, 3191 Riverside Drive, drop in any time between 6:30pm and 8pm.

March is filled with various holidays and special celebrations – so much to participate in:  St David’s Day (March 1), International Women’s Day (March 8), March Break (March 16-20), St Patrick’s Day (March 17), Eid al-Fitr (March 19-22), Journée Internationale de la Francophonie (March 20), First Day of Spring (March 20), Earth Hour 2026 (March 28) and Palm Sunday (March 29).

On March 25, at the Planning and Housing Committee, we are expecting to receive a list of NCC owned parcels of land from across Ottawa that they are prioritizing and fast tracking for residential development which may include parcels from River Ward’s Southern Corridor.  Please read further down to see more details of this critical matter.

When was the last time you visited a sugar bush and had warm taffy on snow?  There are many sugar bushes in the Ottawa region where you can take your family this month, go for a hike, watch sap boil and enjoy pancakes with liquid gold- real maple syrup.  This is truly a Canadian experience to enjoy.

Have a great month – please reach out any time if the River Ward Team can serve you.
