20 Nov Policy paper released as part of taxi and limousine regulation and service review
The City has released a Policy Option Paper as part of the Taxi and Limousine Regulations and Service Review on ottawa.ca. The City is examining the current regulatory framework and service delivery to residents and visitors. Council approved funding for the review as part of the City’s Strategic Initiatives.
The Policy Options Paper outlines strategic options for the regulation of vehicles for hire developed by KPMG through public and stakeholder consultation and feedback obtained from targeted in-person workshops, stakeholder meetings, email, telephone and social media.
Residents can participate in the next stage of the public consultation by participating in online workshops (webinars) during which they will watch a live presentation and can submit questions and input.
The online workshops will be held on November 24, from 6 to 8 p.m., in English and on November 25, from 6 to 8 p.m., in French. Interested individuals can register through ottawa.ca up until the date of the webinars, which have a capacity of 1,000 participants.
Comments on the Options Paper will be accepted until November 30.
The consultant’s final report will be completed in December. The next step will be for the report to be presented to the Community and Protective Services Committee, which will consider a City staff report based on the consultant’s recommendations from the review.
Residents can also subscribe to email updates that will include notification of the release of documents related to the review.
