There will be multiple viewing areas positioned around the track. Although not every viewing areas capture the entire track, there will be large screens projecting the races from every angle. There will be plenty of locations to take in the action, including at Major’s Hill Park and the ByWard Market.

Road closures and transit impacts for Red Bull Crashed Ice

Ottawa As a result of Ottawa 2017’s Red Bull Crashed Ice event, there will be road closures and transit service impacts in and around the downtown core from March 3 to 5, 2017.

Some roads around the Red Bull Crashed Ice venue will be impacted:

  • York Street in the ByWard Market will be closed from Sussex Drive to ByWard Market Square:
    • March 3 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
    • March 4 from 4 p.m. to midnight; and
    • March 5 from midnight to 8 a.m.
  • Wellington Street westbound lane reductions between Mackenzie Avenue and Elgin Street southbound:
    • March 3 from 9 p.m. to March 4 at 3 p.m.
  • Wellington Street will be closed between Sussex Drive and Elgin Street southbound:
    • March 4 from 3 p.m. to March 5 at 6 a.m
  • Elgin Street northbound lane reductions between Albert Street and Wellington Street:
    • March 3 from 9 p.m. to March 4 at 3 p.m.
  • Elgin Street northbound will be closed between Queen Street and Wellington Street:
    • March 4 from 3 p.m. to March 5 at 6 a.m.

On-street Pay and Display parking will not be permitted on York Street between Sussex Drive and Byward Market Square beginning Thursday March 2 at 12:01 a.m. until Sunday March 5 at 8 a.m.

Please consult the map and full list of traffic impacts on ottawa.ca to plan your travels. OC Transpo is your best option to get around during Red Bull Crashed Ice. Use the OC Transpo travel planner to plan your trip, check a route timetable, or look up departure times at a bus stop.

When planning your trip, be advised that due to the road closures in effect around the venue, both OC Transpo and STO will see some service changes.

  • OC Transpo detours will be in place from March 4 at 3 p.m. until March 5 at 6 a.m.
  • Buses will run along Mackenzie King Bridge and Albert and Slater streets during the closures. Rideau and Wellington streets will not be serviced.
  • Only two Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO) stops will be in service during that time: Rideau/Cumberland and the Supreme Court on Wellington Street.
  • OC Transpo customers are encouraged to check OCTranspo.com for up-to-date information on detours or delays, and STO customers are encouraged to visit sto.ca.
